Welcome to The Cahokian...
A thousand years ago Cahokia — across the Mississippi from what is now St. Louis — was one of the biggest cities in the world. Now it's an empty green spot next to the highway. I'm a middle-aged gay man living in New York City, center of the world, future footnote on somebody's future map. Welcome to the new world.

Hope Springs Eternal
Need a good cry? Watch these kids sing Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide."
LOL. Oh cmon, the way that one girl gestures for "turn" and the way they hold their hands over their hearts?
Then again, that Fleetwood Mac song Dreams with the line about "players only love you when they're playing" always makes me weepy too, even sung by the orginal wife-swapping drug addicts. :)
I guess I won't point you to these kids' version of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'"
I'll spend the rest of the day trying to rid my mind of the image of nice young boys and girls being forced to sing Journey songs. I try not to ever even think about Journey.
U900 are the greatest although I sometimes suspect some kind of technical trickery. Did you notice that their ukuleles don't have strings? Maybe it's different when you are knitted.
Nice kids, but kids are generally speaking nice. Making them sing Fleetwood Mack is child abuse.

ReplyDeleteYou've travelled very far from your Jersey roots! I think I congratulate you.
ReplyDeleteHere Jon. This will make up for it.
