The Best Dis Ever of Ayn Rand

"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." — KungFu Monkey blog

(A privately-financed film version of Rand's proto-teabagger fairytale "Atlas Shrugged" opens today. I will NOT be going to see it.)

  1. It didn't originate with Kung Fu Monkey but it's still the best dis.

  2. Do you know who said it? I didn't think they were first but that's where the trail dried up for me on a quick check.

  3. Not nearly so good, but I was recently asked my opinion of Ayn. I said that when it comes to sociopaths I'd rather read something by Charles Manson. He has a better sense of humor and he inspired fewer murders.

  4. Funny... Ayn Rand was discussed today as our little group of volunteers assembled to stuff, seal and stamp 500+ letters for a Wings of Hope mailing. I am the most liberal of the bunch, also the only one who actually licks the envelopes. Conclusion was that my "liberal" condition was due to a substance used in the glue on the envelopes. LOL - At least now we know. Have a good weekend all...
