Welcome to The Cahokian... A thousand years ago Cahokia — across the Mississippi from what is now St. Louis — was one of the biggest cities in the world. Now it's an empty green spot next to the highway. I'm a middle-aged gay man living in New York City, center of the world, future footnote on somebody's future map. Welcome to the new world.

Anti-American Art: Anniversary Party
From a series of stamps issued by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in 1975 to commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of the ruling Korean Workers Party in the North: this one focuses on the "fatherland liberation war" of 1950-1953. In the top half of the vignette jubilant Korean soldiers on the battlefield of victory. In the bottom half of the vignette a bleak cemetery of crosses and smashed up American military hardware.
According to Wikipedia, American casualties in the Korean war amounted to 36,940 killed. Chinese and Korean soldiers from both sides, over a million killed. Korean civilians, two million killed.
